Man charged with unlawful sexual intercourse with 13-year-old

A 44-year-old man was charged yesterday with unlawful sexual intercourse.

Sean Bain-Pindling was not required to enter a plea to the charge when he made his initial court appearance before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.

Although listed as Sean Bain-Pindling on the court docket, he insisted that he was “just Pindling”.

Prosecutors say that Bain-Pindling had sexual relations with a 13-year-old girl on September 20. Sex with a girl under 16 is illegal even if she gives her consent.

Forbes denied Bain-Pindling bail. He returns to court on November 21 for the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment that will send his case to the Supreme Court for trial.

Bain-Pindling, who is represented by Bernard Ferguson, said that the bail refusal would adversely affect his life as he was a “businessman with obligations”.

Forbes advised him of his right to seek bail in the Supreme Court.
