A 65-year-old man was charged yesterday with injuring his drinking buddy.
James Black pleaded guilty to injuring Cordero Rolle with a cutlass on October 8.
Rolle went to the Wulff Road Police Station and told them that Black had chopped him to the head and neck with a cutlass because he didn’t give him any gin.
Police called an ambulance for Rolle and arrested Black at his home.
He admitted to the offense and police found the cutlass in his bedroom.
Black said that he had intended to “spank” Rolle with the cutlass because he had spent all the money on his Ultra Games account.
Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans ordered Black to pay Rolle $500 in compensation to avoid spending five months in prison.
Black’s wife said she would have the money next Monday. Black will remain in custody until the money is paid.
