A man arrested at the beginning of the year following the seizure of a loaded assault rifle changed his plea last week.
Loubens Moricette, 31, of Sugar Hill Road, was arrested with his brother, Gerald Forrester, 35, of Gun Hill Road, when a team of officers searched the gray 2015 Kia Sportage that they were traveling in on January 28.
The officers found the rifle that was loaded with 17 bullets between the front seat and armrest of the vehicle, prosecuting attorney Samantha Miah told the court.
Moricette, who did not have a lawyer, pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of ammunition at the close of the prosecution’s case and was sentenced to three years and seven months.
Moricette has been in custody since his arrest.
Forrester pleaded guilty at arraignment and was sentenced to three years in prison.
