Authorities were still searching yesterday for a missing woman after an American boat ran aground near Bimini early Saturday morning, killing one man and injuring two other people, a Royal Bahamas Defence Force spokesperson said yesterday.
According to a statement on the matter, around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, defense force officers responded to reports that a vessel was disabled south of Bimini.
The officers discovered a 34-foot boat named “Stand Firm”, with a man and a woman on board who had minor injuries. It was discovered shortly after, that two others were believed to have been thrown from the boat, and were presumed missing.
A search of the surrounding area was carried out, and around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to authorities, defense force officers discovered a man’s body on Turtle Cay, south of Bimini.
The injured survivors were taken to the hospital in North Bimini.
