Man pleads guilty to drug stash

Police arrested Ross Heastie on June 17 when they raided a home on Penny Savings Bank Lane.

He changed his plea to guilty when he appeared before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain for trial.

The officers found the drug stash of 1.4 pounds after a police dog, Rexo, gave an indication that drugs were present, according to ASP Clifford, the prosecutor.

Heastie told police that he had bought the drugs for $600 from a man through Wilson Tract.

Heastie’s lawyer, Devard Francis, asked the court to temper justice with mercy and pointed out that Heastie had no previous convictions.

Heastie, however, returns to court on April 8 for a trial on a charge of possession of ammunition with intent to supply.

He remains on bail.
