Man to stand trial for alleged killing of cyclist

A man is to stand trial for allegedly killing a motorcyclist last month.

Kenrick Whyte has been charged with killing Steve Joseph by dangerous driving on July 19.

Prosecutors allege that Whyte was driving a Suzuki Swift when he ran the traffic light at Chesapeake Road and Jerome Avenue and crashed into Jospeh, who was on a bike.

Joseph died of his injuries in hospital.

Magistrate Samuel McKinney granted Whyte $5,000 bail on Friday. He returns to court on September 22 for trial.
