Media hypocritical for questioning my qualifications

Dear Editor,

I wish to make a clarion call to the media to stop harassing me about my appointment as an independent contractor in the Ministry of National Security.

There I was at the most solemn ceremony and wreath laying to honor those who lost their lives on the HMBS Flamingo when this young woman approached me to talk about man raping his wife.

I wanted to talk about making a petition to posthumously bestow the honor of these fine young men.

Rape and wife should not be in the same sentence. Will she still be his wife when he’s serving time for rape? Who will support the children and the home while he’s serving time, and will the woman become an adulteress?

I say when the judge is ruling on the rape charge, the divorce should be finalized at the same time.

Then there was the question of my qualifications as an independent contractor for the Ministry of National Security.

The newspaper advertised on Monday, May 9, 2022 four available contractual positions at the Ministry of National Security. Will this newspaper seek out those persons who were hired to test their qualifications? Will they be in a position to determine if they meet the needs of the organization?

Vacancy for the post of health and safety manager at the Ministry of National Security; the salary for the post is $50,000 per anum. The appointment will be contractual outside of the public service for two years with a 15 percent gratuity payable upon satisfactory completion of service.

Vacancy for the post of health and safety officer at the Ministry of National Security; the salary for the post is $35,000 per anum. The appointment will be contractual outside of the public service for two years with a 15 percent gratuity payable upon satisfactory completion of service.

Vacancy for risk manager at the Ministry of National Security; the salary for the post is $50,000 per anum. The appointment will be contractual outside of the public service for two years with a 15 percent gratuity payable upon satisfactory completion of service.

Vacancy for the post of manager of infrastructure and technological development at the Ministry of National Security; the salary for the post is $50,000 per anum. The appointment will be contractual outside of the public service for two years with a 15 percent gratuity payable upon satisfactory completion of service.

Just look at the hypocrisy of the press. They don’t want me to have anything!

Are they going to double check the qualifications of the persons who get these jobs or will they be asking why these positions could not be filled from among internal staff?

Nobody is asking why defense force officers are used as a “catch all” for all the security and peacekeeping jobs, but when the opportunity comes up for them to gain specialized skills that could be used when they retire they need not apply!
