Two men facing charges in connection to the country’s latest murder alleged police brutality when they appeared before a magistrate yesterday.
Prosecutors say Kervon Stewart, of Market Street, killed Renaldo Nairn in a drive-by shooting at Rosewood Street in Pinewood Gardens on July 16.
He’s further accused of the attempted murders of Antonio Pratt, Lamar Wilchcombe and Travis Stuart.
William Wong, of Soldier Road, is accused of abetting the murder and the attempted murders.
They did not have to enter pleas to the charges at their initial court appearance before Deputy Chief Magistrate Andrew Forbes.
Stewart, through his lawyer, David Cash, alleged that police caused injuries to his neck while in custody.
Defense lawyer Ian Cargill alleged that police placed a bag over Wong’s head and denied him access to counsel.
Both men have been denied bail and return to court on November 26 for a voluntary bill of indictment.
