A man accused of murder and attempted murder was yesterday granted $25,000 bail.
Prosecutors allege that Jefferson Bevans is responsible for the shooting that killed Kenneth Sweeting and injured Kenniqua Taylor.
On January 27, 2022, Sweeting was riding a motorcycle with Taylor as his passenger through McQuay Street when two gunmen emerged from bushes and shot them.
Sweeting died at the scene, while Taylor, his girlfriend, was treated at hospital for her injuries.
As part of his bail terms, Justice Camille Darville-Gomez ordered that Bevans must wear an electronic monitoring device and sign in at a police station.
Ian Cargill represents Bevans and T’shura Ambrose was the prosecutor.
