Nevandria Lyriic releases debut single ‘Your Light’

Keep shining your light even though it hurts. In the debut single release “Your Light” from Bahamian neo soul/reggae artist and songwriter Nevandria Lyriic, she urges listeners to keep pushing towards their dreams no matter the setbacks. The question she asks everyone to ask of themselves is whether they give up when things get rough.

“My intention for this song is to heal, inspire, encourage and remind anyone dealing with tough times that they bring something special to the world and the people around them,” said Nevandria. “Everyone has a light and a purpose for that light.”

Nevandria croons her way through each stanza, reminiscent of the roots and culture sounds of the ‘90s, while putting her own soulful spin into the single.

With “Your Light”, Nevandria pays homage to her aunt Rebecca Davis who lost her battle with cancer. She even used a voice note on the single of her aunt saying, “You have to have peace within yourself on the journey because God heals” – words she said before what would inevitably be her last operation, to ensure her “spirit and words live on”.

Kyle Stuart of Cyclone Music Group & Jvibe (Grammy-nominated producer – Estelle, Keisha Cole, Morgan Heritage) provides the perfect reggae backdrop for “Your Light”.

Nevandria is a current member of Jukebox Live under the leadership of Ivan Prosper, the former drummer for Destiny’s Child.

She was born Nevandria Rolle on Moore’s Island, Abaco, and is the former Miss Abaco 2011-2012.

Nevandria made her debut on the Bahamian scene at FamFest at age of 14, when she performed “On Bended Knee”.

Nevandria has always said that when she picks up the microphone, she likes to deliver a message of positivity and performs with the goal to make people feel good.

“If I have one person in my audience tell me that my music or my voice brought a smile to their face, or made their day better, then that makes everything worth it for me,” she told The Nassau Guardian in an earlier interview.

Prior to finding her niche, Nevandria sang gospel music, and is a lover of most genres. The love of music that she said means everything to her, allowed her to cross over from gospel.

At the time she said music was everything to her and couldn’t see herself doing anything else.

Nevandria plans to release her second single, entitled “Listen to Learn”, which she wrote with Zoltan Johnson this summer; Johnson also produced the song.
