New Providence are champs!

After going down 4-3 at the end of the second inning, New Providence roared back to take down Abaco 9-6 at the Bahamas Softball Federation (BSF) All Island All-Star Tournament women’s division late last night at Bankers Field.

New Providence pitcher Thela Johnson finished 1-for-2 to go with two runs. On the mound she finished four strikeouts in the win.

Her teammate, left fielder Larikah Russell, finished the game 0-for-2 on offense. She also scored three runs including the ninth and final run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Picking up the loss was Abaco’s Malinda Bastian.

Abaco’s centerfielder Keesha Pratt led her team with two runs in the game. She scored the sixth and final run for her team at the top of the seventh inning.

The men’s championship game was after the women’s where New Providence took on Eleuthera. No scores were available at press time.
