On Bahamasair

Dear Editor,

There are accounts coming out of Abaco claiming that Bahamasair is, or has been, charging persons who have been subjected to the ravages of Hurricane Dorian to be airlifted out of Abaco.

I have seen the Bahamasair statement which seeks to clarify the issue but questions and concerns remain.

The government is called upon to state clearly the position and if it is so, to immediately discontinue this abhorrent practice and expeditiously evacuate all persons from the ravaged island without placing any burden upon them.

Further, if monies have been collected from these distressed persons, the government is called upon to forthwith reimburse all persons, most of whom have likely lost all of their earthly possessions in this deadly storm.

There must now be seen a sense of urgency, a greater sensitivity and a more evident and potent activation to alleviating the terrible suffering of our brothers and sisters.
