Private investigator hit with restraining order

Private investigator Oswald Poitier could be jailed for six months and fined $1,000 if he violates a restraining order.

Magistrate Kara Turnquest-Deveaux ordered Poitier, 44, to not come within 1,000 feet of Elizabeth Bannister, wife of social media commentator Gorman Bannister.

Mrs. Bannister applied to have Poitier bound over to keep the peace after he sent her menacing messages via WhatsApp and attached a tracking device to her vehicle.

Poitier sent her the following message, along with photos of her home and her workplace: “Good evening, your husband has put my life in danger with his slanderous posts for a couple dollars. I will pass these pics and address to his enemies. He messed with the right one this time.

“He knows who this is also. Tell him go report me. CDU needs to see him now anyway.”

The bound over also prohibits Poitier from publishing anything about Mrs. Bannister.

The magistrate told Mrs. Bannister that she could seek further legal action if she wanted.
