Reverend denies dirty church premises charges

A reverend will face trial next month on charges that he kept his church premises in an unsanitary condition.

Magistrate Samuel McKinney issued an arrest warrant for Reverend Philip McPhee, the senior pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Cathedral, on February 7, after he failed to appear to answer the charge.

McPhee appeared before McKinney Wednesday morning to have the warrant cancelled and denied the charge.

Environmental inspectors allege that the church’s garbage was overflowing and its yard overgrown with weeds.

McPhee, who is represented by Wallace Rolle, goes to trial on March 17.
