Suspect in drive-by shooting gets bail

A man accused of murder and attempted murder has been freed on bail.

Justice Vera Watkins set bail at $15,000 for Wilson Capita, who’s accused of participating in a 2017 drive-by shooting that left one man dead and another injured.

Prosecutors charged Capita, Christavio Tucker, Kelvin Clarke and Kevin Ramsey with the April 21, 2017 murder of Patrick “Pitter” Thompson and the attempted murder of Terrance “Dog” Rigby.

As a condition of bail, Capita must wear an ankle monitor and report to police three times a week before 6 p.m.

Thompson, Rigby and others were standing in front of a car wash on Market Street, near Palm Tree Avenue, when the occupants of a dark vehicle pulled up and fired several shots at them before speeding off.

Thompson died of his injuries at the scene while Rigby was taken to hospital for treatment.
