Along Life's Road

Take stock of where God has brought you

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. – 34:8

Some time ago, someone posted a song on social media titled “Taste and See” and it stayed with me. The Psalm 34 is all about thanksgiving and an invitation to try faith in God. It is what is called wisdom literature and has a teaching purpose.

No matter how different we may think we are from others, there are only five senses given to mankind and while many may not have born with the five, due to abnormalities, nonetheless, seeing, smelling, testing, hearing and feeling is a part of the package deal for mankind’s survival.

Today, in our text, attention is called to two of the most important of the senses. You may not be able to hear – but you can taste, see, smell and feel. You may not be able to feel – but you can taste, see, and smell. You may not be able to smell – but you can taste and see.

One of the sure signs that you were a victim of COVID-19 was when you started complaining that you could not taste anything. The Bible tells us that the light of the body is the eye and just a few days ago, a nurse told me that blindness cannot distinguish day or night. Today, I pray for all those who are having problems with their vision. And today is the day to cry out to God so that you may be able to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. We rebuke blindness in the precious name of the Lord.

Why not take some time to meditate on the excitement of being able to taste a meal that you love so much? God has done so much for your financial, social and educational advancement in life, take a moment to savor your blessings.

Not only are you able to taste, the evidence is in seeing what God has done for you in your life. Look at what you have amassed! I was sharing recently with some people who have done quite well for themselves, how pleased I was for where God had brought them.

Feeling down, despondent, forsaken, forgotten, and forlorn? You have an open invitation to the taste and see dinner and all that God has in store for you, and expect a wonderful turn around in your life.
