A $5,000 recording contract with Encore Records, inclusive of a music video, and cash prize are up for grabs as 242Untapped, The Bahamas’ only singing competition and reality television show gears up for its fourth season in the fall with a new component with hip hop artists now able to compete.
“From the show’s inception there have been many requests for hip hop to be a component of the show, and after three seasons the producers have finally heard the cry, as hip hop over the years has found its place and respect as a part of the genre, especially locally in The Bahamas,” said Vincent “V-Mac” McDonald Jr.
The goal with the show after a five-year hiatus, is to provide a platform for upcoming talent to shine by tapping into the heart of church through song.
“I am super excited about the return of the show,” said McDonald Jr. “I am anticipating nothing but greatness coming out of the hearts and voices of our contestants. Everything about this season will be on another level – from the production to the mentorship and of course the expertise of our amazing judges.”
The new season will feature two new judges – international recording gospel artist Sherwin Gardner and Bahamian gospel artist A’Leithia Sweeting, with returning judge Bahamian artist and producer, Sammi Starr.
Auditions for 242Untapped will be conducted on Abaco, on Saturday, September 21; Grand Bahama on Saturday, October 5; and New Providence on Saturday, October 19. Hopefuls can sign up on the Elev8tion Now website www.elev8tionnow.com/242untapped/.
