Teacher denies slapping principal’s daughter

A teacher at Thelma Gibson Primary School has denied assaulting the daughter of the school’s principal last month.
Lakeisha Gray-Davis, 43, of Churchill Drive, is accused of slapping Timisha Daxon at the school on October 7.
The incident allegedly took place during a meeting with parents, teachers and administrators to discuss an ongoing dispute between some of the faculty and Olivia Daxon, who at the time served as the school’s principal.
Gray-Davis pleaded not guilty to the assault charge at her arraignment before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain on Friday, November 18.
She was granted $2,000 bail and her trial is set for February 2023.
Meanwhile, Daxon will stand trial next month on an assault charge that stemmed from an alleged altercation that took place between her and teacher Shenique Sweeting on September 12.
The incident caused teachers to walk off their jobs and demand Daxon’s dismissal.
