Teen charged in crash that killed boy, 6
A teenager is accused of causing a relative’s death in a car crash.
Hallyandrea Feliz, 18, of Bahama Sound, appeared before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on Wednesday charged with killing in the course of dangerous driving.
Prosecutors say on August 1, Feliz drove a 2003 Honda Fit along the Queen’s Highway in Exuma in a manner that was dangerous to the public, causing the death of her six-year-old passenger, Wilbur Duvalier.
Feliz is also accused of driving without a valid driver’s license and not having third-party car insurance coverage.
Feliz, who was also injured in the incident, pleaded not guilty to all charges at her arraignment.
The prosecutor, Inspector Claudette McKenzie-Lewis, asked for Feliz to present proof of insurance and her driver’s license when she returns to court on March 10 for her trial.
In the meantime, Feliz has been freed on $10,000 bail on the condition that she reports to the Carmichael Road Police Station. She is in New Providence undergoing physical therapy.
