Three men charged in separate murders remanded to prison

Three men accused of separate murders were yesterday remanded to prison.

Deontalay Bethel, 18, of Ford Avenue, in Kennedy Subdivision, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt charged with the January 17 murder of Robert Delancy.

According to police, the 32-year-old was in front of a home on Shahs Street, off Sumner Street, in Redland Acres, when a gunman exited a black Suzuki Swift and shot him multiple times.

Police said they arrested the suspect in the area a short time later.

Bethel wasn’t required to plead to the charge and he returns to court on April 4.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jeremiah Andrews appeared in the same court charged with the January 6 murder of Takeil “Pumpkin” Tynes.

Prosecutors allege Andrews fatally shot Tynes outside a bar on Robinson Road, making him the third murder victim of 2023.

Andrews also returns to court on April 4 for the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment.

Alexander Sands appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain charged with the murder of Lavandro Paul.

Prosecutors say Sands, of New Hope Drive, shot Paul on July 10, 2022 and he died in hospital as a result of those injuries on December 17.

Sands wasn’t required to enter a plea and he returns to court on April 27 to receive a voluntary bill of indictment.
