Police said three men were murdered in separate incidents on Monday and early Tuesday morning.
The first murder happened after 2 p.m. on Carmichael Road. Police said a man was stabbed outside a business and taken to the hospital where he later died.
The victim, police said, was involved in a fight with another man who stabbed him. Police said a man is in custody in relation to this matter.
The second murder happened on Dean’s Street after 10 p.m. A group of men were standing outside a business when a car pulled up. One of the occupants started shooting at the crowd, hitting four of the men, police said.
The victims were taken to hospital where one of the men died. Police said the other three were last listed in serious condition.
The third murder happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Police said they responded to reports of gunshots at the intersection of Beatrice Avenue and the Charles W. Saunders Highway.
Police said an altercation broke out between three men inside a car. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot at the other two men. The men exited the car and ran along Beatrice Avenue. One of the men collapsed and died.
The shooter returned to the car and fled the scene.
Police said the shooter remains at large.
During his contribution to the budget debate, Minister of National Security Wayne Munroe said crime was up 18 percent for the first five months of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021.
