Three people were shot and killed on New Providence in less than 24 hours, police said yesterday.
In the first incident, police said a man was standing on First Street, Coconut Grove shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday when a white car approached him.
The occupants of the car shot at the man and sped away. The victim was taken to hospital where he later died, police said.
The second murder took place on Johnson Road shortly before 7 a.m. yesterday.
Chief Superintendent Solomon Cash said yesterday that a man was standing on the side of the street on Johnson Road when he was approached by two armed men who shot him.
The men then got into a nearby car and sped away.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced the man dead on the scene.
Cash said the man was standing in the area waiting for a ride.
“We can tell you that we suspect that the victim is a security officer,” Cash said.
“We don’t know exactly which company he works for.”
The third incident occurred last night on Ambrister Street, Fox Hill. Police reported a double shooting, with one victim lifeless on the scene.
Cash added: “We are always concerned about homicides. One killing is one too many. I can say with the more recent ones, there’s a nexus with four of those homicides and we are currently following some significant leads.”
