Two charged in relation to recent murder

Two men arrested soon after a man was shot dead on Joe Farrington Road last week faced murder and gun possession charges on Monday.

Prosecutors allege that police officers were on patrol when Dyanza Gibson, 20, of Peach Street, and Deandre Morley, 21, of Ross Corner and Market Street, chased and fatally shot Angelo Major on January 31.

The officers allegedly sprang into action and shot and arrested the suspects and seized a purple and black Taurus Luger G2S 9mm pistol.

The pair was not required to enter pleas to charges of murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis.

The magistrate remanded both men into custody because he lacks the jurisdiction to consider bail for the murder charge.

They are scheduled to return to court on April 12.
