Two charged with armed robbery

35-year-old man accused of the armed robbery of a motel was yesterday remanded to prison.

John Demeritte, 35, of Dean’s Lane, appeared before Magistrate Samuel McKinney charged with the December 9 armed robbery of the Landshark Hotel on West Bay Street.

Demeritte was not required to enter a plea to the charge that he robbed the establishment of $511 and was remanded to prison.

Appearing in the same court was Jarod Scott, a 20-year-old Yellow Elder resident accused of robbing Bristol Wine and Spirits of $2,000 on May 4.

Scott also was not required to enter a plea and denied bail.

Both men return to court on February 28 when it is expected that they will be committed to stand trial before the Supreme Court.
