Police on Monday charged two suspects in the murder of 40-year-old Godfrey “Rob” Sawyer.
Prosecutors allege that Jamaal Armbrister, of Coconut Grove, and Marcello McKenzie, of Shrimp Road, are responsible for Sawyer’s murder at his home on Jackson Street, Nassau Village on June 28.
According to police, Sawyer got into an argument with two men who came to his home around 11 p.m.
One of the men pulled a gun and shot Sawyer multiple times. EMS pronounced Sawyer dead on the scene.
Both men allegedly fled in a white bus, police said.
Officers conducting an operation in Pinewood Gardens arrested the suspects after they stopped a bus that fit the description provided by eyewitnesses.
Armbrister and McKenzie were not required to enter pleas to the murder charge when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Derence Rolle-Davis.
Ian Cargill represents Armbrister. Speaking on his own behalf, McKenzie asked the court to make provisions for his safety.
Since the magistrate lacks jurisdiction to consider bail for the charge, Rolle-Davis remanded the man to the Bahamas Department of Correctional service until September 30, for the presentation of a voluntary bill of indictment.
