The University of The Bahamas (UB) Mingoes dropped to 2-0 in the best-of-five NPSA playoff series against the Sunshine Auto Wildcats with a 12-1 loss Saturday night at the Bankers Field, Baillou Hills Sporting Complex.
The team was in the running early in the game but too many errors in the third inning cost them the opportunity to pick up the win.
“Minus the errors I felt that we played a very, very good game tonight,” Assistant Head Coach Victor Grant said. “Our bats came around a little too late in the game. Overall, I was pleased with their performance. We have to tighten up on a few things especially limiting the errors and, of course, we need to make more contact with the ball.”
The Mingoes face playoff elimination in game three of the best-of-five semifinal series on Thursday and Grant said the team is ready for the challenge of extending the series.
“We know we are going up against the reigning champions and a very balanced and powerful team,” he said. “We just need to be consistent and keep fighting and if we give 110 percent, I will be happy with that.”
