Woman becomes victim of armed robbery while in restroom

A woman was the victim of an armed robbery while in a restroom at a business on Robinson Road, off Marathon Road, shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

Police said an armed male entered the restroom and robbed the woman of her handbag containing a cellphone and personal effects before escaping on foot.

This follows a string of robberies on New Providence over the past week.

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday, a man driving a truck off West Bay Street near Tropical Gardens was flagged down by another man hitchhiking, according to police.

After the driver offered assistance, the hitchhiker produced a weapon and robbed the driver of cash and checks before escaping, police said.

Police also reported that shortly after 8 p.m. that day, a woman outside a home on Jerome Avenue, off Chesapeake Road, was robbed of a Huawei tablet by an armed man who escaped on foot.

Police were also looking for a man who robbed a woman of Christmas ornaments while on Ivanhoe Road, off Mackey Street, on Monday.

Police are making their usual appeals to members of the public for information.
