Woman drops gun case against boyfriend

A man accused of pulling a gun on his pregnant girlfriend was discharged after she told a court she loved him.

Cordaro Stevens Saunders, 31, is accused of pointing a handgun at the woman on November 7, at Great Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands.

Saunders appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

However, his alleged victim used her own money to fly to New Providence to formally withdraw her complaint.

Taking the witness stand, the woman explained that she did not want to proceed with the matter because she was pregnant with his child and she loved him.

Ferguson-Pratt told Saunders that his alleged actions showed “he was less than a man”.

Saunders apologized to the woman, saying, “You know I love you and I promise it won’t happen again.”

Saunders’ attorney Ian Cargill also chastised him for his actions, saying it “should never have happened”.

Cargill added, “That she’s pregnant, makes it even worse.”
