Women who stole from Marco’s Pizza placed on probation

Two women who stole close to $5,000 from Marco’s Pizza have been placed on probation for two years and ordered to return the cash.

Degrea Robinson, 47, of Adderley Terrace, and Veronica Rahming, 29, of Pineyard Road, pleaded guilty to charges of stealing by reason of employment when they appeared before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain on Friday.

The thieves who both held managerial positions removed money from the pizza chain’s deposit bag on October 7.

Robinson took $4,368.62 and Rahming took $613.38.

The prosecutor said Robinson told police she needed the money for personal reasons and Rahming said that she wanted to help her dad with a medical bill.

Their lawyer, Nathan Sweeting, said that both women were willing to repay the money and were sorry for their actions. He asked the court not to give them criminal records since they had already lost their jobs.

The women could spend nine months in prison if they violate the terms of their probation.
